Privacy Notice
Last updated 15 October 2026
This notice explains what personal data EasyKJ and this web site use, why, and the choices and rights you have.
Who we are
EasyKJ is run by Digital Entertainer Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, number 05687461, whose registered office is at 2 Beacon End Courtyard, London Road, Stanway, Colchester, CO3 0NU, United Kingdom. We're the controller of the personal data described here, except for the payment details Paddle collects, as explained below.
For anything about your data, email support@easykj.com.
What we collect, and why
When you buy EasyKJ
Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record, runs the checkout. It collects your name, email address, billing address and payment details, and handles them under its own privacy notice. We never see your card details.
Paddle tells us your email address, its reference numbers for you and your order, what you bought, and any refund. We use these to give you your licence key, email it to you, answer your questions, and handle refunds. We do this to carry out our contract with you, and to keep the business records the law requires.
Your licence and trial
When you activate EasyKJ, or try it without a licence, the app sends this web site:
- a machine identifier: a scrambled, one-way code made from the identifier Windows gave your PC when it was installed, which can't be turned back into it;
- for a licence, the name of your PC as set in Windows, so you can tell your PCs apart if you need to free one up;
- your licence key, if you have one.
We keep these with the dates the licence was activated and last checked, and the date the trial started. We use them to check that a licence is used on no more PCs than it allows, and that each PC's trial is only used once. We do this to carry out our contract with you, and because we have a legitimate interest in preventing misuse of the licence and the trial.
Song requests
If a KJ uses song requests, their copy of EasyKJ sends this web site the titles, artists and disc numbers of the songs singers can choose from. None of the KJ's files leave their PC.
If you're a singer sending a request, we keep the name you type, the song you choose and when you sent it, and pass them to the KJ running that night. We use them only to run song requests, because we have a legitimate interest in providing the service you're using. Please don't enter anything in the name box but the name you'd like the KJ to call.
Emails
When you email us, we keep the emails to answer you and for our records.
Visiting this web site
Like all web sites, ours receives your IP address and details of your browser to send you its pages and protect itself from attacks. We don't use them to identify you or to follow what you do.
What stays on your PC
EasyKJ keeps your song catalog, singers, their history and your settings on your own PC. They aren't sent to us, except the song list for song requests, and the licence details above.
Who we share it with
We don't sell personal data, or share it for advertising. We share it only with:
- Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited), our reseller and Merchant of Record, for payments, taxes, invoices and refunds;
- Microsoft, whose Azure service hosts this web site and its database in the United Kingdom;
- SMTP2GO, which delivers the emails we send, such as your licence key;
- our professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, where needed;
- the police, courts or other authorities, if the law requires it.
Transfers outside the UK
Our web site and database are in the UK. Where one of our providers handles personal data outside the UK, it's protected as UK data protection law requires: either the country is covered by UK adequacy regulations, or the provider is bound by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Purchases and licences: while the licence can be used, and then for six years, for our accounting and tax records.
- Trials: while we sell EasyKJ, so that a PC's trial can't be started again.
- Song requests: 90 days after they're sent, then they're deleted. A KJ's song list is replaced each time their EasyKJ sends a new one.
- Emails with us: for up to two years after our last contact, unless they're part of our business records.
Keeping it safe
This web site only works over a secure (HTTPS) connection. Access to our systems is limited to the people who need it, secrets such as KJs' keys are stored in a form that can't be read back, and licences are signed so they can't be forged.
Cookies
We don't use cookies for analytics or advertising. The song request page uses one cookie that's needed to protect its form from misuse. On the pricing page, Paddle's checkout may set cookies needed for payments and to prevent fraud: see Paddle's privacy notice.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it's wrong, or deleted;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to how we use it;
- have it given to you, or another organisation, in a common format;
- withdraw your consent, where we rely on it.
To use any of these rights, email support@easykj.com. We'll reply within one month. If you're not happy with how we've used your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes
We'll update this notice when what we do changes. The date at the top says when it last changed.
